All Schaeffler's 241 series spherical roller FAG bearings with X-life quality of 500mm and above will adopt new rolling elements one after another. The characteristic of the new barrel roller is that the end is modified, that is, the micro-geometric structure is optimized at the end of the roller. This optimization makes the roller more robust and durable in use.
Spherical roller bearings with non-repairable rollers will experience material wear due to friction after a period of use. After the use of repaired rollers, the edge contact stress caused by abrasive wear is reduced by at least 20%. The operating reliability and service life of the bearing have been significantly improved, which is particularly obvious in the application of the mining and cement industry. With this new roller, Schaeffler has set a new standard for large-size bearings.
Compared with non-repairable rollers, the design advantages of repairable rollers are obvious. The radial outer surface of the modified roller adopts a logarithmic modification, which can significantly improve the risk response ability of excessive end contact stress under high load in the later stage of the bearing's working life. Under normal application conditions, the occurrence time of edge contact stress caused by abrasive wear is greatly delayed. Compared with non-modified rollers, when edge contact stress occurs, the stress is reduced by at least 20%. Bearing life can be extended by up to 15%. The enhancement of the anti-wear ability improves the operational reliability and availability of the equipment, which ultimately benefits customers.
